Digital Content Specialist

Location: Elliott Park Frey Center (Hybrid Remote)

Hiring Range: $66,000- $72,000

Status: Full-time, Salaried, Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Digital Content Specialist at Catholic Charities of the Twin Cities (CCTC) will lead the creation, development, and management of compelling digital and print content that effectively communicates the mission and impact of the agency while inspiring engagement and action. As a key member of the Communications team, this position will oversee the production of written, visual, and multimedia content across all platforms and manage the agency’s social media presence in alignment with the Senior Communications Manager . This role will proactively identify and tell the stories of staff, volunteers, advocates, and clients through innovative and strategic content approaches that elevate the agency’s mission and programs. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of issues related to poverty and homelessness, exceptional interpersonal and writing skills, and the ability to translate complex issues into accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation and Storytelling (35%)

  • Build and nurture relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, and advocates to capture and tell authentic stories that illustrate community impact.
  • Write and edit stories, social media copy, newsletters, and other communications tools that highlight Catholic Charities’ work and generate constituent support.
  • Assist in the planning and production of photo and video materials that support storytelling, campaigns, and mission-driven initiatives.
  • Ensure all storytelling content aligns with Catholic Charities’ voice, brand guidelines, and DEI values.

Digital Content and Social Media Management (35%)

  • Manage and execute the content calendar for Catholic Charities’ Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram accounts in alignment with the Senior Communications Manager and agency partners.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content to increase audience reach, engagement, and support while maintaining consistent brand voice and tone.
  • Monitor audience interaction and platform performance to optimize content strategies and elevate community engagement.
  • Respond to social media inquiries and interactions in alignment with agency messaging and service standards.

Web and Internal Content Management (15%)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and update content on the Catholic Charities’ website, ensuring timely, accurate, and accessible information.
  • Support the development and maintenance of content on internal SharePoint pages to ensure staff have access to current and relevant resources.
  • Align web content strategies with broader agency communication goals and campaigns to ensure consistency and mission alignment.
  • Monitor and recommend improvements to web content and structure for better user experience and accessibility.

Analytics and Reporting (15%)

  • Track and analyze social media, web, and content performance data to assess effectiveness and inform future content strategies.
  • Provide regular reports with insights and actionable recommendations to improve engagement, reach, and impact across digital platforms.
  • Use data-driven insights to adjust content, messaging, and posting strategies to align with audience interests and agency objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, platform algorithm changes, and best practices to apply effective strategies within Catholic Charities’ communications efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in communications, social media management, public relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling social media content and manage social media accounts to drive audience engagement and growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with superb attention to detail and the ability to translate complex topics into accessible, mission-aligned content.
  • A skilled storyteller with the ability to weave human stories together with broader issues and data to describe the agency’s work and build constituent support.
  • Experience creating high-quality digital and print content across multiple platforms in alignment with brand and voice guidelines.
  • High proficiency with digital production software, including content management systems, scheduling tools, and social media analytics tools.
  • Ability to capture and edit photos and videos for use across digital platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those experiencing homelessness, housing instability, poverty, or mental illness.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed to support public events, organizational functions, and content gathering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator) and/or Final Cut Pro for photo and video editing and production.
  • Experience with Salesforce, WordPress, and SharePoint for content management and project coordination.
  • Familiarity with web content strategy, user experience, and SEO best practices for managing and improving website content.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and generate reports to inform and refine digital content strategies.
  • Knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, and social justice, and the ability to communicate these issues with empathy and clarity.
